Meet the Midwives
‘You are a midwife, assisting at someone else’s birth. Do good without show or fuss. Facilitate what is happening rather than what you think ought to be happening. If you must take the lead, lead so that the mother is helped, yet still free and in charge. When the baby is born, the mother will rightly say, “We did it ourselves!”

Crystal Childs
Registered Midwife | Life Coach (She/Her)
Hi, I’m Crystal. I love a good strong cup of Irish Breakfast tea with too much milk and honey. I grew up in the Ottawa Valley as a 5th generation settler in a farming family. I’ve been a midwife for nearly 15 years and a birth worker for well over 20. I earned a BHSc in Midwifery in 2011 in Ontario and, I have practiced in Manitoba, BC and NWT. I have experience working as a midwifery leader and supporting families and professionals through transition and change. I am also a certified life coach, and graduate student in counselling psychology. I am a mother of two vivacious boys and am passionate about attachment theory, parenting and neurodiversity. Some of my favourite parts of being a midwife are supporting people to make informed choices about their care and the big life transitions that occur in early parenthood. I am thrilled to be doing this work combining my skills and experience to support families in the postpartum period. Students & Locum Midwives
UBC Midwifery Students & More
As a clinical teaching practice, from time to time Sprout Midwifery will invite clients to welcome UBC Midwifery Students or other medical students into their care. We may also have other midwives in the community join us in supporting practice coverage and new members of the team.
